RM of Morris Full Time Seasonal Position Available

The R.M. of Morris invites applications for a heavy equipment operator.  This is a full time seasonal position.  Persons with a Class 1 licence (minimum of Class 3 licence required), who are mechanically inclined will be preferred.

Applications should be marked “Equipment Operator” and sent to Box 518 Morris, MB R0G 1K0, or can be dropped off at 207 Main St. North in Morris.  All applications must be received by 12 noon on May 14, 2012.

Delayed Water Bills

The R.M. of Morris is currently working on water bills. They have been delayed because of technical difficulties within the billing program. We hope to have them distributed by the end of this month.

Local Heritage Project

April 26th, 2012

The R.M. of Morris is developing a new heritage project called Special Places. This project will involve a study of the community’s building heritage that will give deeper appreciation and knowledge of the communities local heritage. has entered into a partnership with an experienced heritage consultant, Mr Lorne Thompson. Mr. Thompson will be visiting homes, businesses, and land sites which appear to be of older construction to gather information they may have on their building. Participation in this project is voluntary, and no sensitive or personal information will be collected. At the end of the project the R.M. will be presented with a binder which will include a full heritage inventory of the area. The completed heritage inventory will be a valuable resource for the R.M.. The information will have numerous uses for years to come, from tourism and a possible research tool.

This project is part of the provinces Heritage Matters initiative and is being done at no cost to the residents of the R.M. of Morris.. A $5000.00 provincial grant was obtained to cover all expenses that will be incurred.

Dust Control

April 13th, 2012

R.M. of Morris is once again conducting a dust control program for rural residences.

For a nominal fee of $200.00 the municipality will do dust treatment to cover a length of 500 feet in front of yard sites.

Test Drive a New Ford Vehicle Morris School Fundraiser

Test Drive a New Ford Vehicle on Saturday, May 26th at Morris School between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Help Morris School raise money for the school library. Each test drive earns the school $20 – up to a maximum of $6,000 (or 300 test drives) from Ford Canada. Our sponsor dealership is Rhineland Car Co. of Altona and driving appointments can be made by calling the school at 746-2612 ext. 221 or emailing ddekezel@rrvsd.ca

Each drive will take approx. 15 minutes. Drivers must be 18 years or over with a valid license and a unique home address so please invite a friend or family member from outside your household to drive with you.

Spring Clean Up 2012

For the Urban Centre’s in the RM of Morris, a Spring Clean-Up Campaign will be held. Persons are asked to place unwanted articles at their driveway entrance for pick up. This does not include regular household garbage. The schedule is as follows:

Persons are asked to have their unwanted articles out on the day for your area. This cleanup is for this week only. Pick-up will not be done after dates indicated.

For rural residents of the RM of Morris, the disposal of unwanted articles may be done at the disposal site with no charge during that week only during regular landfill hours.

Please remember that fridges and freezers will only be removed if they have been tagged FREON FREE

RM of Morris New Chief Administrative Officer Announcement

The RM of Morris is very pleased to announce the hiring of a new Chief Administrative Officer, Larry Driedger.

Mr. Driedger currently resides in Altona. He has been working for the Town of Altona for the last 23 years, and spent the last 16 years in the position of Secretary Treasurer. Mr. Driedger brings a high level of financial advisory support, economic development, and office administration to this position. He has also completed Advanced Certificate in Accounting from U of M, graduated from the CMMA municipal program, and graduated from Business Administration with an Accounting Major at Red River College.

Mr. Driedger will be starting with the RM of Morris on April 23rd, 2012. We are looking forward to working with Larry, as he brings knowledge and experience to the Rural Municipality of Morris.

We would also like to acknowledge Way To Go Consulting Inc. as they have been an essential part of our recruitment process.

Septic Tank Clean Out 2012

This is just a note that septic tank clean out will be done this Spring in urban areas such as; Lowe Farm, LUD of Rosenort and Sperling. This service is provided by the RM of Morris.
